January Newsletter
Dear Supporter,
2011 promises to be another busy and productive year at Jamie's Farm as we will re-engage over 450 hard to reach children with school and educational life, with an exciting selection of new Jamie's Farm packages on offer schools.
In the run up to christmas, we hosted 6 visits in 7 weeks, and have just come back from successful follow up visits in London. A typical student who visited from an academy back in November has made a remarkable turn around from having been on the brink of exclusion to having had no instances of poor behaviour. He says "I haven’t even got my name on the board for one negative reason since returning from the farm. It has changed me. I’d never been on a farm. It was fascinating, I loved it and I particularly liked the breakfast." His teachers report a huge shift in his attitude to school and learning, and an increase in confidence and health, which is positively affecting his attendance and grades. We will stay in touch, and check in with this student again in the coming months. Click here to see a short video of a recent visit to Jamie's Farm.
The farm is busier than ever. A surprising gift on New Year's Eve were triplets born to Stix, our oldest ewe at Jamie's Farm. In addition we have had two Aberdeen Angus calves, whilst 4 ewes have followed suit and have since delivered us healthy twins. Doug has been organising our cattle and pigs into new pens and the farm is enjoying this reprieve from the freezing weather in 2010. Jamie led an escapade to Sedgemore Market to sell Arthur our boar on saturday along with the Carnie's and Doug's family.
Thank you for your support following our Christmas newsletter. If you haven't done so already, setting up a standing order with Jamie's Farm could make a great New Year's resolution, and would help provide this unique experience to more children. We continue to campaign for our barn conversion, which we hope to have completed in 2011. Please contact ruth@jamiesfarm.org.uk if you can help towards this great project.

"Love is... a night on the farm" Join us for our farmyard chic Valentine's Bash, Saturday February 12th, University of London Boat Club, Chiswick by clicking here. £40 tickets include fizz reception, hog roast and live music and entertainment all night. Best wishes,
The Jamie's Farm team
