Chloe, aged 15
Chloe came to Jamie’s Farm because she had been underachieving for a number of years at school. She had behavioural problems, and her anger had become unmanageable in class. Her teachers reported a severe lack of focus, motivation and independent learning skills which meant she was working at level G ten months before her GCSEs.
On site, Chloe fitted easily into the small group dynamic, and shared with our staff the difficulty she had faced in moving to England along with her six siblings, and her responsibility as the eldest of these. Chloe herself reported that she felt that she was good at things, that she discovered herself to be a “good farmer, a good cook and a nice person too”.
Back at school a year later, Chloe was reported by teachers to have “developed a lot in maturity as a result of Jamie’s Farm”. She worked hard and managed to attain a grade C in her English GCSE, which was a huge achievement for Chloe, and meant her acceptance onto the college programme of her choice. Chloe’s head teacher has subsequently booked four more visits for pupils.
