Farm and Family Life

“It was like having a big family in one house. There were always lots of activities and the house always seemed to be alive with things going on[...] Now I try not to start arguments at home, I’ve got better things to do.”

Year 9 - Kids Company Club Group

“By looking at the way that the staff on the farm deal with situations, you can learn how to help people who are upset, for example by making sure that you listen to them first.”

Year 7 - Cumberland School

“In London there’s a lot of commotion. There is noise everywhere… but here it is peaceful. All the noise you can hear is the birds chirping, the wind passing your face, fresh air and you can have a nice think as well.”

Year 10 - Cardinal Pole Catholic School

“We’ve not been stressed. At school we argue with everyone; we’ve learned to deal with it and take advice.”

Year 8 - Knowsley Hey Arts College

“It is better for us because the food is all home made and fresh. Instead of buying things from shops with additives we make it ourselves. It tastes better as well.”

Year 8 - Haling Manor High School

Positive Change

“From the minute I left your home my life started. I now have a whole new outlook on life and found the whole experience uplifting. I am so proud of myself for everything I did on the trip. I have learnt to share my problems and not let them stress me out.”

Year 10 - North Manchester High School for Girls

“I think Jamie's Farm has had a very big impact on my home and school life it has made me see that you have to work hard for what you want in life and the harder you try the more you get. The day to day life on the farm is challenging but I have really enjoyed every last minute I spent here.”

Year 8 - Waverley School

“I will not give up too easily, start believing in myself, give people advice when they're having a difficult time too, and be more calm then what I usually am at home.”

Year 10 - London Academy

“I think it will impact me at school. I want to work harder. I feel a bit different, especially walking, I really felt like I could do it. [Back at school] I've been a lot more confident in myself. I've grown up a lot. Being on the farm can really show you the outside, and what you can do with your life.”
